This past September I was privileged to spend a month in Newfoundland. The photographic opportunities were endless as I believe will be evident to all who view this gallery. But, beyond that, the trip was outstanding for the warmth and hospitality of the people. In every community I visited, and there were many, I came away with the sense of having just made a new friend. Unless experienced firsthand it would be difficult, if not impossible to understand what the heart and soul of a Newfoundland community is like. It truly was a breath of fresh air to understand that people can still feel that closely aligned with a sense of community and a sense of pride which is based not on materiality but, instead, on where one is from.
In the course of a single month I was only able to tour the southern portion of the province although I visited every outport community which could possibly be reached by car. I am excitedly anticipating a return visit to complete my explorations!!
Fall, 2014; a perfect time to spend a month in the Rocky Mountains. At that time of year there was ample snow in the upper elevations making for stunning backdrops. And since the lower elevations were relatively mild, getting around was not too difficulty.
The photographs in this gallery primarily were taken in the areas around Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper and Canmore Alberta. Since the journey ended with a few days in Glacier Park, Montana, there are a few of those images included as well.
This gallery iincludes all the images included in my newest book, "The Premier Collection, Volume II". The majority of pieces displayed here were exhibited at my recent Solo Photography Show at the Venice Art Center in Venice Florida as well as those which will be featured in my upcoming show and the Longboat Key Art Center in April. The focus of this collection is on those works created in the past 24 months although there are some old favorites as well.
This gallery represents a collection of my best fine art work to date. Here you will find all the photos included in my newest coffee table book "The Premier Collection Volume I" which is now available. Included are both color and black and white works. Please contact me if you are interested in acquiring a copy.
In addition to the photographs I have included brief comments sharing some of my feelings on each work. It is my hope you will find these both informative and interesting.
Please enjoy and feel free to comment on your visit!
This gallery contains those works recently exhibited at the Longboat Key Art Center, Florida The overall theme for this exhibit was "Journeys in Fine Art". To that end, when selecting pieces for exhibiting, I chose photographs taken from both around the world as well as right here at home. It was my intent to showcase these "journeys" in a different light; not simply as a recounting of travels but instead as opportunities to explore and to interpret the world in a different way.
I present these images not as travel photography but, instead, as examples of artistically rendered pieces. Many of them are recognizable due to their content, many are not. However these images are more about design and less about content. In addition to showing a distinct sense of place they also are imbued with artistic principles which place them in the category of fine art.
It is my hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I did creating them.
