This past September I was privileged to spend a month in Newfoundland. The photographic opportunities were endless as I believe will be evident to all who view this gallery. But, beyond that, the trip was outstanding for the warmth and hospitality of the people. In every community I visited, and there were many, I came away with the sense of having just made a new friend. Unless experienced firsthand it would be difficult, if not impossible to understand what the heart and soul of a Newfoundland community is like. It truly was a breath of fresh air to understand that people can still feel that closely aligned with a sense of community and a sense of pride which is based not on materiality but, instead, on where one is from.
In the course of a single month I was only able to tour the southern portion of the province although I visited every outport community which could possibly be reached by car. I am excitedly anticipating a return visit to complete my explorations!!
